Binky Fairy

Ayda still uses a binky, or as she calls it, "her midgie". Travis and I were going to have the Binky Fairy come (she takes the binkies to all the new babies and leaves a present in its place) when she turned three but thinking about it, that will be just a couple weeks before baby comes and I didn't think that would be great timing. So, she came early Saturday morning. We had collected all her binky's and we tossed them, in the night I went into her room and took her last remaining binky. I stuck it in my nightstand drawer and thought I would toss it in the morning. She woke up and 4am (not uncommon) and wanted her binky, I told her the binky fairy came and when it was light outside she could see her presents. She was awake for two hours begging, pleading, singing about her binky. She finally fell back asleep. When she woke back up, walked over to my nightstand, opened it, pulled out the binky and said, "ta-da." I suck as the binky fairy. We distracted her by showing her the goodies left for her: a hula hoop, a princess ball, and some worm things that she can dive for in the pool. She was thrilled. Later in the morning she was frantically searching my drawer for her binky, we told her several times they were all gone. She actually did really well last night, better than I thought she would. She woke up a couple times and didn't ask for it. So, we will see if we can convince her she is a big girl, because as far as her binky is concerned she is perfectly content with being a baby! Here is an early morning picture of Ayda with her gifts!

Just wait, months from now she will find a random binky somewhere and you will be so shocked that she doesn't know quite what to do with it. once they give it up, they usually move on pretty quick. too cute about her finding the last one in the drawer! kids are so smart it's scary.

That cracks me up that you "suck as the binkie fairy". Love the idea though and it seems to work like magic! She is such a happy little girl.

I am so not looking forward to the binky fairy coming here! I am pretty sure she will accidentally leave a few behind:) I really love the idea though very creative and I will probably steal the idea here in about a year...or two! Love seeing your mom and Ayda together...you can tell they really have a great time together.

I think the funniest thing is that she calls it her "midgie."

can I send Finn to you? she needs a little help getting off the midg!

Midg has previosuly been used only at nap and bedtime, but the last 2 weeks she has insisted on carting that and her blanket around. It's driving me crazy!!

Any tips for a Finn, who doesn't understand the concept of a "biky fairy!"

I love that binky fairy! She's the best! I wish there was like a "treat" fairy. She would come to my house and steal all the treats and replace them with presents! I have no self control :)
I can't believe how grown up Ayda is getting. She is going to be a great big sister.

Yay, I'm glad the binky fairy has come to your neck of the woods too. How's she doing now? I still miss those things on nights where Carson won't go to bed. They used to make him fall right to sleep.
